COKEMAKING


Dasturco, since its inception, has been working in blast furnace plants in various modes. Dasturco’s experience in this field started with preparation of project reports for Bokaro Steel Plant for Govt. of India in the year 1958. Even before that, Dasturco had prepared preliminary civil design in the year 1955 for blast furnace for Krupp-Indien for Rourkela Steel Plant in India. Since then, Dasturco got assignments for services in various forms for more than 20 pig iron projects and almost equal number of integrated steel plants in India having BF as ironmaking process route which includes sinter plant and coke oven and by-product plants also.



The department offers solution to the steel industries in the areas of iron ore sintering, blast furnace ironmaking, pig iron plants, coke making in recovery and non-recovery routes, by-product plant, auxiliary fuel injection in blast furnaces, energy saving and waste heat recovery systems in ironmaking areas.

MAJOR PROJECTS HANDLED

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)

  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for rebuilding of batteries 2B and 1B - Each battery comprising 35 ovens, 4.5 m high. 21.6 cum effective volume and capacity 0.24 million ton per annum coke.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for installation of new battery 5B - comprising 40 ovens, 4.5 m high, 21.6 cum effective volume and capacity 0.28 million ton per annum
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for modification and expansion of existing by-product facilities.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for modernisation of existing coal handling plant.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for installation of partial briquetting of coking coal charge (PBCC) plant and its integration with the existing coal handling facilities.


The Durgapur Projects Limited (Merchant coke oven) (DPL)

  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for installation of new battery 5 comprising 40 ovens, 4.5 m high, 21.6 cum effective volume and capacity 0.28 million ton per annum coke.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for rebuilding of batteries 1 and 2 - Each comprising 30 ovens. 45 m high, 21.6 cum effective volume and capacity 0.21 million ton per annum coke.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for revamping of existing by product facilities.
  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for revamping of existing coal and coke handling facilities
  • Techno-economic feasibility report for augmentation of capacity and modernization to coke oven plant.

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP)

  • Engineering, supervision and other related services for coal handling and preparation by adopting selective crushing, coke handling, elaborate by-product facilities and auxiliary facilities.
  • Overall engineering services for coke oven battery and coke dry cooling. Coke oven complex comprising three batteries each of 67 ovens 7.0m high 41.6 cum effective volume and capacity 0.9 million ton per annum coke. Each battery provided with coke dry cooling unit with four chambers of capacity 50 ton per hour each.

Tata Steel Limited, Jamshedpur

  • Detail engineering, construction, supervision, plant commissioning and other related services for expansion and modification of existing gas cooling condensation section and ammonia section of coke oven by-product plant.
  • Procurement and other related services for installation of new coke making facilities adopting Recovery Technology.

Hooghly Met Coke and Power Company Ltd, Haldia, West Bengal

  • Engineering, supervision including conceptualisation to completion of 1.6 million tons per year coke plant through Heat Recovery Technology for 90 MW power generation. (On-going project)
