Over the years, it has gained vast experience in the conceptual planning, design and engineering of different types of rolling mills in India and abroad. DASTURCO has provided basic engineering, procurement assistance, detailed engineering, project management, construction management and commissioning assistance for the establishment of a number of rolling mills. Dasturco engineers are fully familiar with the rolling mills including latest technological development, automation and control systems,construction and metallurgical aspects of rolling mill complexes for rolling mill of both flat and non-flat products and are fully equipped to provide the complete range of engineering services from concept to commissioning. Such services have been provided by Dasturco for a number of clients in India and abroad.
NATURE OF SERVICES OFFERED
Dasturco's range of consultancy services for rolling mill projects cover :
- Preparation of Feasibility Reports/ Detailed Project Reports.
- Design and engineering services including preparation of specifications.
- Technical and commercial evaluation of the bids received from equipment suppliers.
- Assistance to client in preparation of contract documents for placement of orders.
- Supervision of construction at site.
- Monitoring of construction by computerised CPM network technique, project management, inspection and expediting of equipment.
- Assistance in commissioning of plant facilities and supervision of performance and acceptance tests, etc.

BAR & SECTION MILL AND WIRE ROD MILL
As the Principal Consultant for the 3 million ton integrated steel plant at Visakhapatnam, India, Dasturco designed and engineered fully automated and computerised state-of-the-art rolling mills including a light and medium merchant mill, a wire rod mill and a medium merchant and structural mill.Similar services have been provided by Dasturco for the 300,000 tpa bar and rod mill at The Tata Iron & Steel Company Ltd, Jamshedpur, the bar and section mill at Sunflag Iron & Steel Company, Maharashtra, India, bar and rod mill at Southern Iron & Steel Company Ltd, Coimbatore, India etc.Dasturco has also provided comprehensive engineering and consultancy services in this field to clients in Latin America, Sepcial Bar Mill for ARCO Steel - Egypt, Ispat Annaba - Algeria, the Arab World, etc. As the Principal Consultant for the Misurata Steel Complex in Libya, Dasturco prepared the Feasibility Report and Detailed Project Report and was responsible for the engineering coordination, management of construction and erection, commissioning and startup as well as assistance in recruitment and training of personnel of the light and medium section mill and the two bar and rod mills installed as a part of this project. At present similar services are being provided for Qatar Steel for their new bar mill under construction.COLD ROLLING MILL
As the principal consultant for the stainless steel rolling mill complex at Salem, Dasturco designed and engineered the fully automated and computerised state-of-the-art 32,000 tons per annum cold rolling mill complex for production of stainless steel sheets / strips. Dasturco provided total design and engineering services for expansion of the plant to 70,000 tons per year by installation of the second Sendzimir mill.Dasturco Provided complete design and engineering services for the silicon steel project comprising a 37,500 tpy cold Colled Grain Oriented sheets unit (CRGO) and a 36,000 tpy of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) electrical steel sheets unit for Rourkela Steel Plant at Rourkela, India.Dasturco rendered consultancy services for the cold rolling mill complex of Misurata, Libya. The services included preparation of detailed project report, comprehensive design and engineering, inspection & expediting management of construction and erection, commissioning and start-up as well as assistance in recruitment and training of personnel.Dasturco, was principal consultant for the 1.2 MTPA cold rolling mill project of Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, India. Dasturco was responsible for procurement services, design and detailed engineering, supervision of construction and project management.In addition to the above Dasturco has provided design and engineering services for a number of cold rolling mill complexes like Tin Plate Company, Jamshedpur; Special Steel Limited, Mumbai; Uttam Steel Limited, Mumbai etc.HOT STRIP MILL, SHEET MILL & PLATE MILL
As the principal consultant for the 1 million ton semi-continuous hot strip mill at the Tata Iron & Steel Complex, Jamshedpur, Dasturco designed and engineered fully automated and computerised state-of-the-art hot strip mill comprising of the walking beam type reheating furnace, roughing mill, coil box, finishing mills down coilers etc. under their Ph.III Modernisation scheme. Subsequently under their Ph.IV Modernisation and 1 MTPY Expansion schemes Dasturco has engineered for the expansion of the mill to a capacity of 3.2 million tons with inclusion of additional facilities such as hot slab charging system, reheating furnace, CVC system, finishing stand, downcoiler and automation facilities.As the principal consultant, Dasturco has designed and engineered the expansion of the Hot Strip Mill of Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela, for augmentation of the capacity to 1.65 million tons with inclusion of Descaler, Roughing Stand, Coil-box and Downcoiler and modification of Coil Conveyor and Automation System.Similar services have been provided by Dasturco for the steckel mill Salem Steel Plant, Salem; planetary hot strip mill at the Ahmedabad Advance Mills, Gujarat; hot strip and sheet mill at MIDHANI, Hyderabad; hot rolling mill at Alloy Steels Plant, Durgapur.As the principal consultant for the 2.8 MTPA hot strip mill through thin slab casting route at Ispat Industries Ltd, Raigarh, Maharashtra, Dasturco designed and engineered fully automated and computerised state-of-the-art hot strip mill. The mill comprises of tunnel furnaces, finishing mills including CVC system and downcoilers.Dasturco has also provided comprehensive engineering and consultancy services in this field to clients in Latin America, the Arab world viz. CVG, Sidor in Venizuella, Misurata Steel Complex in Libya.
